Rules & Regulations
Please review all rules and regulations carefully before registering dancers for an event.
Sportsmanship & Respect
All dancers, teachers, studio owners, parents, and spectators are expected to conduct themselves respectfully at all times. Poor sportsmanship, harassment, bullying, intimidation, or disrespect toward staff, judges, volunteers, competitors, or audience members may result in disqualification or removal from the event.
Profanity & Inappropriate Content
Music, costuming, choreography, props, and on-stage dialogue must be age-appropriate. Excessive profanity, offensive gestures, inappropriate themes, or content deemed unsuitable by the competition director may result in point deductions or disqualification.
Safety
Routines must be performed in a way that does not endanger dancers, staff, or audience members. Any choreography, prop use, or staging considered unsafe may be stopped or disqualified at the discretion of the competition director.
Food, Drinks & Liquids
No food, drinks, liquids, powders, glitter, confetti, paint, sand, water, or any substance that may damage the stage or create a safety hazard is permitted on stage unless approved in advance.
Weapons & Dangerous Props
Real weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited, including knives, firearms, blades, swords, or any item that could be considered dangerous. Prop weapons must be clearly fake, safe for performance use, and approved if requested.
Backstage Conduct
Only registered dancers, teachers, studio directors, approved assistants, and event staff are permitted backstage. Running, loud disruptions, blocking entrances or exits, or interfering with other performers is not allowed.
Dressing Rooms
Dressing rooms must be kept clean and respectful. Studios are responsible for their dancers and belongings. The competition is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
Photography & Video
Photography and video are strictly prohibited during any dancer's performance. Photos and videos are available through DanceBug media.
Judging & Results
All judging decisions are final. Competitors, parents, and spectators may not approach judges regarding scores, critiques, or placements. Concerns must be brought to the competition director by a studio owner or teacher only.
Schedule & Timing
Competitors are expected to be ready to perform before their scheduled time. Events may run early or late. Missed performances may only be accommodated at the discretion of the competition director.
Rule Violations & Disqualification
The competition reserves the right to deduct points, stop a routine, disqualify an entry, or remove any participant or spectator for rule violations, unsafe behaviour, unsportsmanlike conduct, or failure to follow staff instructions.
Venue Rules
All participants and spectators must follow venue rules, including rules regarding food, parking, seating, smoking/vaping, restricted areas, and facility use. Damage to the venue may result in additional charges to the responsible studio or individual.
